Where Are They Now? Touching the Game, Again

Jeff Palumbo and Matt Cooksey were the subjects in the 2004 DVD Touching the Game: The Story of the Cape Cod Baseball League. They grew up together playing baseball in Bowie, Maryland and played on the Cape in the 2003 season. Where are they now? Jeff Palumbo is still with his alma mater, George Mason, as a coach. He was recently promoted to the top assistant coach position there and also handles recruiting.

Matt Cooksey is still playing baseball. After graduating from George Mason in 2005, he was drafted in the 32nd round by the Toronto Bluejays. He played for Toronto's short-season class A affiliate, the Auburn Doubledays, in 2005. In 2006, he played independent baseball in the Frontier League, which is the equivalent of short-season class A ball. He started the season with the Chillicothe Paints (who were the subject of another documentary in 2005: Touching Home: Baseball in the Bushes) and ended the season with the Florence Freedom. He had 93 hits, 29 RBIs, and 48 stolen bases in 102 games.
