CCBL players top this year's preseason award watch lists for the nation’s elite amateur baseball players for the 2007 NCAA season. For the uninitiated, each season top amateur baseball players are named to short-lists for the distinction of titles such as All-American, best player and best pitcher. Louisville Slugger All-Americans The Louisville Slugger 2007 NCAA Division 1 All-Americans list has been published. The list inlcudes CCBL stars such as: Mitch Canham (Oregon State/ Falmouth), Justin Smoak (South Carolina / Cotuit), Matt Mangini (Oklahoma State / Hyannis), Ryan Gotcher (Arkansas / Wareham), Josh Donaldson (Auburn / Harwich), Matt LaPorta (Florida / Y-D Red Sox), Warren “fan favorite” McFadden (see photo above right, Tulane / Falmouth), and Mike Bianucci (Auburn Y-D and Cotuit, see CodBall entry).
Brooks Wallace Award This award is presented annually by the Texas-based College Baseball Foundation. It given each year by the College Baseball Foundation to the National Player of the Year in NCAA Division I baseball.
UPDATE: Andrew did a Nov. 25th post on the Wallace Award, and others have added important references in the comments section.
Roger Clemens Award This Award is provided by the Texas-based Roger Clemens Foundation. It is given annually to “the finest pitchers in college baseball.” Elliott Cribby (see my interview 1/1/07) is on the list for 2007. I can find only references to the 2007 watch-list. For some reason I can’t find the 2007 watch-list on the Clemens website.
Nevertheless, you will find on the 2004 Clemens Award list Jered Wever, who won 11 games for the LA Angels @ Anaheim.
