Day 4: Around the League & Harwich @ Hyannis

mets-logo.jpgThe Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, 2006 CCBL champs, remain the only undefeated Cape team, defeating Cotuit today 15-1 to go 4-0 after four days. Bourne, also undefeated through Sunday, lost its first game today against Orleans. Falmouth won its first game against Chatham. And Cotuit, Harwich, Orleans and Hyannis all moved to 2-2 after today's action. Brewster and Wareham had the day off.

My son scored today's Harwich-Hyannis match-up, and his reporting follows:

Andrew Doyle (Oklahoma) pitched great as the Hyannis Mets beat the Harwich Mariners 6-1 today at Hyannis. He gave up only one extra base hit (a double to Jared Bolden) and went 7 innings.

The game was close until the Mets broke out a big inning in the 3rd with 4 runs.

The Mariners responded with a run in the 4th but that wasn’t enough as the Mets got two more in the 5th on a James Darnell (South Carolina) dinger (that’s what I like to call his home runs), and the Mariners couldn't get anything going as the Mets brought in Jimmy Jolicoeur (Cal State Northridge) who was perfect for the 8th and 9th.

After the game, James Darnell commented on his home run, "it felt good."
