HYANNIS -- The West-leading Bourne Braves beat the advancing Hyannis Mets 3-2 on a postcard perfect evening in Hyannis tonight. Falmouth also won tonight keeping the West tight. The Bourne Braves took a 3-2 lead in the 4th inning when Kevin Hoeff reached on an error scoring Ben Guez and Bill Perry. Hoeff collided with Mets first baseman Kiko Vazquez (Central Florida) allowing the two Bourne Braves to score and for Hoeff to reach second. The collision prompted one fan to yell, "A-Rod," recalling the time Alex Rodriguez slapped the ball from the glove of the opposing defensive first baseman.
The Braves had been trailing the Mets 2-1 after Joe Kent's (LHP) rocky start. Jesse Haney was called upon to warm up in the first after starting pitcher Kent walked the bases full.

Josh Workman (Wichita State) homered impressively to deep right in the first inning and then proceeded to be hit by a pitch in both the 5th and the 8th innings. Workman was thrown out at home from left field in the top of the eighth.
Mets starting pitcher Bryce Stowell (Cal Irvine) went 6.1 innings. He struck out 8 batters. Garrett Sherrill (Appalachian St.) came in to relieve in the 8th.
Jordan Flasher came in to close in the bottom of the 9th and went 1-2-3, getting two strike-outs looking and a 6-3 groundball.
As we come down the stretch, Hyannis is threatening Falmouth for the second spot in the Western Division. Falmouth won 4-2 tonight at Cotuit.
Thanks to the Mets' wireless I was able to file from beautiful MKeon Park. More game notes later after my drive back to Falmouth.
