Well, that didn't take long. The Cape League's 2007 MVP, Conor Gillaspie (Wichita State; Falmouth), was called up to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday - a mere 93 days after being chosen with the 37th overall pick in the MLB draft. Gillaspie batted .262 in only 26 professional games, split between two teams. Buster Posey (Florida State; Y-D), the fifth overall pick in June's draft, has been brought up to the Giants minor league team in San Jose. It may not be long before Posey joins Gillaspie in San Francisco.
Gillaspie has yet to see action with the Giants. When he does, he will likely be at third base making up a left side of the infield that includes shortstop Emmanuel Burriss (Orleans).
