For an early look at the Cotuit Kettleers roster, go to: http://www.kettleers.org/2009roster.htm The Kettleers have signed an impressive collection of talent, led by returnees Kevin Patterson (Auburn) and Seth Blair (Arizona State), both of whom were 2008 CCBL all stars. Brandon Cumpton (Georgia Tech) and Drew Storen (Stanford) also return to Cotuit for a second season.
Two of the more interesting players to follow will be Gerrit Cole (UCLA) and Chance Ruffin (Texas). Ruffin is a highly regarded sophomore, righthanded pitcher. Cole was the first round pick of the New York Yankees (28th overall) in this past June's MLB draft. Going into the draft, Cole was ranked as the 17th best prospect in the country by Baseball America. He is a 6'3" righthander who, with Scott Boras as his advisor, passed on the Yankees offer and opted to go to UCLA. Cole's fastball has been clocked as high as 98 miles per hour and sits at 92-94.
Rick Hague (Rice, shortstop) is also on Cotuit's roster. Hague was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team. He was on Wareham's roster this year and was under consideration for a spot on Team USA but he spent the summer rehabbing an injury.
