Due to Bengie Molina's recent injury, the Giants have promoted catcher Buster Posey (Y-D '06-'07) after all. From the Albany Herald:
Posey, who Evans says was brought up to replace injured Giants starting catcher Bengie Molina, boarded a flight out of Fresno early Wednesday, then changed planes in Las Vegas before eventually joining the team in Philadelphia, site of the Giants' three-game series with the National League East-leading Phillies. Posey, according to his grandfather, Jack Tippens, was joined in Philly later in the day by his mother, Traci, his father, Demp, and his wife, Kristin.
"Oh, he was real excited," said Tippens, who spoke to Posey as he waited to change planes in the Las Vegas airport. "He was glad that his wife and mom and dad could come and see him. The news spread fast (Wednesday). Everyone's real proud of him back home in Leesburg."
And while Evans initially said he would "never say never" when asked if Posey would play Wednesday in Game 2 of the series, after the first pitch was thrown out Wednesday night Posey was not in the starting lineup but was listed as an an active player on the team's bench roster.
