Quick Look at Tuesday's Early Games

Kevin Ziomek (Cotuit; '11) allowed two hits over 5 innings and #1 Vanderbilt rolled over Purdue, 9-0. Jason Esposito (Falmouth; '09, Orleans; '10) paced the offensive attack, going 3 for 5 with a homerun and 4 RBI. Anthony Gomez (Orleans; '11) was 4 for 5, while Aaron Westlake (Chatham; '10) and Mike Yastrzemski (Cotuit; '10, '11) each had two hits and scored two runs. Jack Armstrong (Wareham; '09, '10) made his first appearance of the season. He walked two but struckout the side in a scoreless ninth inning. Ryne Stanek (Bourne; '11) gave up just 3 hits and did not allow an earned run as #11 Arkansas defeated Kansas, 4-2. Stanek was credited with the win despite lasting only 4 innings as the starter. 

A trio of incoming Wareham Gatemen lead #22 Georgia Tech to a 4-3 win over Georgia Southern. Matt Grimes started for the Yellow Jackets, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs over his 6 innings of work. Brandon Thomas (2-4, RBI) and Daniel Palka (1-4, RBI) provided offensive support.

#29 Baylor trails Florida International 6-1 in the 5th inning. Trae Davis (Chatham; '11) made his first start for Baylor after going 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 7 relief appearances. Davis was removed from the game after allowing 3 hits, 3 walks and 4 runs in the first inning.

J.T. Watkins (Chatham; '11) was 4-5 with 2 RBI to help Army past UMass, 10-9.

Jeremy Baltz (Falmouth; '11) singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to push St. John's past Fairfield, 2-1. Sean Hagan (Falmouth; '11) pitched 4 shutout innings of relief for St. John's to get the game to extra innings. Hagan allowed just one hit and one walk. St. John's has struggled to a 6-8 start to the season.
