Name: Michael Hamann School / CCBL Team: Toledo / Bourne Braves
Hamann can probably relate to the expression "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." The 6'3", 163 lb. pitcher from the University of Toledo sports some outstanding numbers in most statistical categories. The exception to his gaudy numbers is in the won-loss column where Hamann has a record of 2-3.
The sophomore righthander from Port Clinton, OH. is expected to suit up for Bourne this summer.
Looking at what Hamann has done this year, it is hard to imagine him having a sub-.500 record. He has made 9 starts for the Rockets and has thrown 59.2 innings. Hamann has posted a 1.96 ERA while opposing batters have hit just .213 off him. He has struckout 51 and given up only 8 walks while compiling a WHIP of 0.92.
As a freshman, Hamann pitched a team-high 78.2 innings and finished 6-3 with a 4.12 ERA. He was a second team All-MAC selection. Hamann pitched for the Thomasville Hi-Toms in the Coastal Plains League last summer. Coming out of high school in 2009, Hamann was taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 24th round of the MLB Draft.
Hopefully Hamann's luck will change for the better soon. He is is now dealing with an injury that has knocked him out of Toldeo's rotation for this weekend's series against Northern Illinois.
